Existential-Phenomenological Psychopathology Group

2024/5

This professional development group is for training and qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists.

The aim of the E-PPG is to cultivate group member’s confidence in formulating client cases using existential and phenomenological frameworks, enabling them to apply and work with these in their practice.

More specifically the group will explore:

  • applied existential and phenomenological approaches to psychotherapy

  • critical, existential and phenomenological ideas about psychopathology (including de-pathologising and non-pathologising approaches)

  • case formulations from different existential-phenomenological perspectives

The groups will be convened and led by Dr Marc Boaz: human-experience.org.

Details:

Location: online and in-person in Brighton, UK.

Day/time: weekly Monday evenings 7-9pm.

Commitment: 10 weeks.

Cost: £395

Format: in-person / online.

Limit: 5 members.

Additional activities: monthly reading will be set, and members will need to bring anonymised client material for group exploration, formulation and discussion.

Requirements:

The group is open to training and qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and counselling psychologists. You need to be a registered and/or accredited practitioner in the UK or your country of practice, and have been practicing for at least 1 year. This professional development group can enhance existing supervision arrangements, although is not designed to be used as primary supervision.

Please note that this is a more advanced professional development group, and so would most benefit those looking to delve deeper into applied existential and phenomenological frameworks and approaches.

Registration:

Given the limited size of the group, you will need to send a short email to marc@human-experience.org with the following information: your name, modality of therapy, registration/membership body (including number), contact email and mobile number, and finally a paragraph outlining why you want to join the group and what you are hoping to get from being part of it.

A waiting list will also operate for future groups (Summer, Autumn, Winter 2024/5)

Registration has now closed and future groups will be advertised here.

Full cost for the membership of group will be required within 2 days of confirmation, and refunds cannot be made.
